Good day all,
93 F250, 7.3 diesel: Fuse U under the hood keeps popping. When it does, the tachometer quits working and the transmission starts shifting badly (I think it looses 1st gear and OD). Additionally, the OD drive light indicator comes on. When I replace the fuse, everything goes back to normal for a while driving (5-10 mins) then pops the fuse again.

Any help is appreciated!

it appears that you have an intermittent short in the wiring. it would be best to go through the whole harness to find the problem, or possibly replace that part of the wiring harness. i would start by consulting your manual to find a wiring diagram and see where everything on that fuse goes, and that'll hopefully point you toward one part of the harness to look at.
if thats gonna be too much work for you, a temporary fix would be to install a self-resetting circuit breaker in place of the fuse. when the problem occurs, it'll blow like a fuse, then once it cools down (15 seconds or whatever), it'll turn itself back on.
DON'T JUST PUT IN A BIGGER FUSE!! doing so WILL start a fire.

 

That fuse also supplies power to the fuel heater. Try disconnecting that...
