Cruise Control
2002 F250 SD XLT
In the last 48 hours two small issues have arisen and I find my self looking for so expert advise. Number one the cruise control when I push "Set Accel" the indicator light flash quickly on the dash and then goes out immediately, doesn't engage. I have also had the recall done for the brake cylinder just for some FYI if needed.
Second issue is the door ajar is lite on dash and will not go out I have sprayed contact cleaner into the latch as well as lubricated to no effect.
Side question would the cruise control be affected by the door a jar?
Thanks for any and all assistance in this matter please bare in mind that my skill level is novice so please keep that in mind.

I don't think the door ajar has anything to do with your cruise control but I'm not certain. As far as I know when the cruise control switches off like that there is a fault in the system that needs to be diagnosed. It could be lots of different things, and I'm not sure if this is diagnosable with a good OBD scanner or not.
I wish I could be more help.

The door ajar issue is separate. Giving all your door latches a "high colonic" with WD40 will usually solve this issue. If it doesn't, you'll have to determine which switch is causing the indication and replace it. Usually, the switch's actuator is just gummed up from dried grease and the WD40 softens the grease up and frees the actuator.
The speed control issue may well be due to a failed SCDS on the brake master cylinder. Try jumpering the chassis wiring harness connector, bypassing both the switch and the recall harness, and retest. If it now works, the switch or the fuse in the harness is open.

It is likely the Brake Control Switch.
This switch is located under the brake master cylinder and is the one towards the front of engine. This normally closed switch allows power for the cruise to work. When the switch fails intermittently then so does the cruise control.
It's and easy fix and the part is around $35.
This recently had to be replaced on my truck and fixed the problem.

Any other possible ways of testing this problem?
As far as the door ajar problem I have spent a hole can of WD-40 into the problematic lock assembly with only brief joy of one door closure and now still remains ajar. The door in question is the typical drivers door.
UPDATE: Ok so the cruise control issue has been resolved after testing harness with volt meter and determining that 12 volt was present jumped the harness and cruise worked so a quick replacement of the SCDS has been applied and now in working order. Thank you to those who replied now to get this damn door ajar
