I roll into suckville late on a Friday nite an set up my camper. Not sure how long I'm goin to be here but could be a permanent resident.
05 with stock motor an stock gears turning 37x13.5x18 AT. Have nO lie-o-meter an cant figure MPG y hand because when speedo reads 65 I'm running 72.
But I know my MPG suck.
Soon to put in 4.56 gears in her an hopes MPG goes up.

blain next time your in town let me know I can make things happen to keep your truck running while you wait.
so far what it seems is ford has caped the ficm programing to reduce the effects of pcm tuning. Mine runs great, as it should now. and if you would like you can drive mine before you send yours off to ed

Well, just did 691.1 miles. Used 49.37 gallons 13.9983796 MPG. Not great.
I still have some hope for higher mileage. Those miles were at 70-75 MPH.(Most were at 75) 3 Major passes had to climb over Snoqualmie, Lookout and Fourth of July.
Running light. Probably truck weight of 8600 Lbs. I run 35's, level kit.
Not sure if re-learn will do anything. My truck sat for 4 days batteries unhooked. New turbo, and of course the FICM tune Atlas 40.
So far, that's my story.
Not sure which hurts more, 13.99 or paying 4.54 per gallon on 22.08 gallons.

Quick reminder for everyone here, about mileage.
Remember that these trucks are aerodynamic bricks.
I don't think that any one of us tips the scales at less than 8000 lbs, and I think everyone here has 4x4...
They're not going to be mileage champions without some SUBSTANTIAL mods...

Count me as a resident of Suckville, too.
I've never broken 500 miles on a tank, and am hard pressed to break 400. Stock wheels/tires. I can get 450 if I run the freeway with the cruise set at 65 and getting down to the low-fuel warning.
I know people get tired of hearing me say this, but Ford completely neutered the late-build '06's and '07's -- basically anything past about a May build date on the engines. (yes, I can hear the collective eye roll as I type this.... )
Mostly to make the bean counters and the EPA happy. It's the whole reason for the '07's hideous throttle lag and poor mileage. MOST of this (but not all) is cured by rolling back the FICM.
Now that people are beginning to report good results with the Atlas 40, now I have to figure out a way to get the FICM out of the truck and sent to Ed...

Of course it would help if I get the truck recalibrated for the larger tires that came with the truck.
Last leg of the trip, was watching the mile markers and found that it is nearly a tenth of a mile off.
60 miles, I lose 4.3 miles. Should be 64.3 miles drove.
So, if I figure those uncounted miles into my post, I hit 15 MPG. Doing 75 MPH.
A little better.
I haven't noticed much difference in the new turbo. But, it does have the Atlas 40 behind it.

That's about how I feel. I have wrenched on LOTS of these trucks and I just don't get how these owners are claiming 20 mpgs. I have to admit, I am a little bit of a lead foot, but that's only because I know that driving it like a granny driver isn't good for these trucks.
barf-o-meter screen. you enter what you paid for gas, and it does
a running total of the money spent of fuel since you turned on the
key this morning, and it's accurate to 2%. fill the tank to one click
in the morning, drive it around and after a tank, fill it at the same
pump, and the amount you spend versus what it says you spent
is within a buck or two on $75 worth of fuel.
so, with 10k rolling weight, on level ground, no wind, going
to san diego on I-5 thru camp pendelton, going south, i got
19.6 mpg. coming north an hour later, no wind, i got 17.2 mpg.
cruise control on 65.
did a repeat two days later, playing with the power settings,
and found that economy #2 setting gets lower mpg than
#6 setting (+100hp/+150fp)
overall milage for the van since rebuild is 13.6 mpg, considering
it's almost all stop and go, and the weight, that seems like a gift.
20 mpg? no way in hell. there is no such thing as a free lunch.

While the PHP tunes help mileage out quite a bit (0.5-3 mpg is what I've been told from various of my customers, it seems, with an average of about 2), the thing to remember in any vehicle is that speed kills fuel economy. Drop from 75mph down to 70 and you'll see a difference. Drop from 70 down to the 'are we there yet' speed of 55mph and it will be HUGE.
Quite a lot of the mileage gain variance has to do with what tune the customer had on their truck to begin with. Those with the latest tune seem to see the largest gains, those with the earliest tunes see the least, but those are the same guys that have to plug their trucks in during the winter due to zero heat induction in the flash.
