This is a common affliction with the Exploder, they tried to lighten the springs to accommodate the group that did not like the harsher truck ride..

I installed airlift on mine as I tow a lot, I can adjust depending on the required load... Philip

yeah, i've got an air-lift kit on it, but i think the left rear spring is simply beyond help.

i cant get it level no matter what. I've tried maxing out the driver's side bag, and letting almost everything out of the passenger's side bag, and the best i can do is about 1" lower on the driver's side.

i've been running 10 psi more in the left rear to try and compensate, just as a general practice, but its getting to the point where it bounces funny. I think i've just used it to its full potential for too many years ...

i suppose if i'm going to keep it, i'll have to do something with the springs. don't really need it getting squirrly with the boat behind me....

not sure what else i can do ... i suppose you pretty much have to replace the rears as a pair, no?

oh yea, i added a pic up top.

If it bounces, that indicates dead shocks..

Yes, they must be replaced as a pair. If you replace them have a spring shop make up a set with an extra main...

I use mine as a Dive Rescue unit, so I am always loaded with equipment.

With >600# (tanks, lead weights, rope block/pulley kit, extra winch) in the back I can run level @ 45psi. When I hook up the 16' flatdeck or the boat I run with 55-60psi, level...
Heavy duty shocks and 6ply tires.....Philip

the shocks are brand new rancho's.

it's not "bouncy" it just gets that it bounces "goofy" .. like the left rear bounces further than the right rear ... or something like that.

i dunno ... i hesitant to spend the money cauz i'd like to replace it in a year, but with a load on especially, it gets a wierd rocking motion over big bumps that i'm afraid i will cause the trailer to move around ....

maybe i'm worried over nothing.

I added a ProComp short add-a-leaf to my 99 V8 and it helped bring some life back, and added some stiffness.

meborder, check along the side of the springs on the left side and see if a spring might be broken back by where the ubolts hold the springs to the axle housing. If there is a lot of dirt on the sides of the springs, use a brush to clean it off good so you can see the spring itself. Look in behind the tire to see that side of the springs and look on the inner side of the spring (the drive shaft side) for a broken spring. Look around the ubolt really well. Some times the break in the spring will be just behind the bolt and you won't be able to see it easily from only one angle. Usually if one side is still sagging after attempts to level it, it's an indication of a cracked or broken spring or exceptionally weak. And like has been mentioned, it's best to replace the springs in pairs.
