Spring Pickin' and the Sweet Smell of Honeysuckle

My buddy Rusty and I did a back roads pickin' trip this week down into southern Indiana and Kentucky. The weather was great, and temperatures perfect. And all along the road, and in the yards we searched, the honeysuckle was in full bloom. Hard to imagine a better way to spend a few days.

The finding wasn't too bad either. While the main reason we headed that direction was for me to pick up the pictured Dana 70 axle and wheels I'd bought on-line, we also found a set of the 17.5" singles that fit the early F-3s, a set of 7.50 x 17" Courser Traction LT tires to match my others that will go on the M-H, and a '51/'52 front bumper. The F-2 that gave up its bumper also still has a Ford script factory flat bed and three good 16s. If anybody wants the yard contact info I'll be happy to post it. The flat bed has had a metal floor welded on, but the original wood is still below it. Stu

whats the deal Stu, you holding out on me? JK. sounds like you and Rusty had a great time. wouldnt it have been easier to just buy the f2 and put the dana 70 on the flatbed of the pickup, then load it on the trailer? sounds like a pain in the butt to take the front bumper off.

The gas wrench did a pretty fast job of getting the bumper. Thought about hauling the bed home, but don't really need it. If you want it I can go back for it, then you can pick it up when we do our swaps when you're down this way. The same yard has a set of long boards that are pretty straight, but have too much rust damage. I thought more seriously about them, but walked away. Stu

I'm a FACILITATOR, not an ENABLER!

I actually thought you'd get on me about the tires. Not many of us (that would be none of us, besides you!) have an open running ad on CL looking for traction tires. I 'bout broke my neck pulling them off a huge pile that was destined for the shredder. Thankfully they were all visible, and reasonably together on the pile. They can't have over a few thousand miles on them, and no sun cracks at all. For $15 each. Stu

I could use a couple 33X12.5 on 15's Stu. Heck I'll pay twice that.

just having a little fun Stu. does my want add on CL pop-up every time you do a search? i have gotten a couple hits with it but the guys are all trying to sell worn out radials. and i like FACILITATOR, thats better than my first thought. you have facilitated a lot to my projects and i am grateful. wish i could have seen you climbing that mountain of tires, hell, wish i could have been there. i would have climbed it for you. now that i think about it, i should be looking for 17s also. then i could run the mohawks on ryans 63 and 17s on the f3. i would then need to find 3 more 17in wheels? wonder who would have those? or could just run airport tug 16s on both MHs. wonder if i should get the trailer ready for June.

Pops up every time. Three more 17" wheels, huh? Might know where you could find them, just need to match part numbers. I think too that running the 16s would be a simple solution since tires are no issue with them. Just a little short. You'll absolutely need to have the trailer ready to go.

Sounds like you take your life in your hands when you go out pickin'. The worst we had to do was clean off the blasted ticks. Stu
