so the original plan to purchase an an 02 with 66000 miles fell through. now the back up plan.

ok guys I am about to pull the trigger on an 02 with 102,000 miles. Truck is in great shape and was a trade in at a dealer. It has a boost and vacuum gauge, borla exhaust (crawled under the truck and the muffler says borla) and k&n filter. I also noticed the throttle body looked newer, so I think it might be an aftermarket one. I took it for a drive today and it shifted great, sounded good and no visible leaks at all or smoke from exhaust. All fluids looked fresh and when standing on it the boost would read 10-11lbs. Is this about right for the mods? I looked at the lower pulley but couldnt tell if it was aftermarket or not but looked different than the reast, They are asking $13,900 for it. It sits on 22's. Looks like the guy who traded it in had did these mods, so what do I look for and what should be concerning to me. does the pix of the throttle body look aftermarket?

 

well after going to the neighbors to look at his 02 it is obvious to me the truck I want to buy at the dealer has an aftermarket TB, aftermarket lower and upper pulley along with the intake and borla exhaust and gauges..... so I have until 4;30 tomorrow to pull the trigger. prequalified and all...what ya think 13.900 a good $$$

 

Thats a nice looking truck. I looked it up on nada guides using my zip code and clean retail is $13,550. I would say if you can talk them down a little go for it.

 

bought it, its all mine.... got it home detailed it and it drives great... definatley has TB, INTAKE, BORLA EXHAUST, FORD RACING BOOST/VACUUM GAUGE W/PILLAR ON COLUM AND UPPER AND LOWER PULLEYS, THINK 6LB... Just need a tuner now

 

If it came without a tuner, you better be finding out if it has a tune for that much boost!
Or your taking a big chance on blowing it up by running it hard.

 

not going to run it hard until I order a tuner. going to take it to the ford dealer ship and get it reflashed to make sure then purchase a tuner...... what do you all suggest for a good tuner that won't break the bank...

 

You cant just run a off the shelf tune ether.
You need a custom tune.
A lot of guys use the SCT X3, witch will be able to hold a few custom tunes.
Check with Troyer performance,VMP,5 Stare tuning.
They are all reputable tuners and will fix you up with the tuner + custom tunes.

 

phil thank you, I am looking at the sct tuner as I am familiar with it since I had a 500rwhp ford 6.0 with elite cam, heads, HO turbo, 190cc inj and so on......
