Bummer no one added to this thread...
Any luck? Was looking at an 09 Ranger (4x4 4.0 extended cab) today that has wobbily windows, worse on the passenger side. Everything else checked out. Never had this issue on the 03, 02, 01, and 97 Rangers our company has had previously....

I just did the drivers door on my old truck. Got the 'runner' from JCwhitney for less than $20. My old bits would not come out in one piece, so I had all kinds of chunks falling down inside the door. I did not remove the door glass.
I removed the armrest, window winder, and door latch. Remove inner panel. Grab as much of the old runner as you can, and remove. Levers and tools may be necessary to get the last bits out. I did not have vent windows, so I ran the runner down in front of the door glass, and pulled from below. Fitted the remainder, and fed some down behind the rear of the door glass. Mumble it back and forth until you like where it sits. Because it was not a factory part (1985? would be as wrinkled as my originals..) I had to 'adjust' the runner at the front. I cut ~3/4" long sections out of the 'sidewall' of the runner to allow it to jam in place. Don't remember the details, but there is something that constricts the runner and you have to become creative.
Works. No more wobble nor wind whistle. Took a couple hours. I did not use any glue or bonding agent, just friction to hold the runner in place. There are silicon style lubes you can put into the depths for the new runner to decrease door glass friction if required.
