1948 11inch clutch Disc??

Hey Everyone,

I recently purchased a 1948 F1 and the clutch was slipping. So after taking the transmission out I have found that the truck is using a 11inch clutch disc. Stamped on the disc is 11-HD which I assume means heavy duty? I have a 10inch spline 1-5/8 diameter. The spread between the adjustable fingers on the pressure plate is 2-1/4 and if this means anything to anyone..it has an orange paint blotch. Looking through my order catalogs I run into a bit of a problem. MAC's shows two options for an 11 inch clutch discs..but not for my year of truck. (They show 65-72 and 73-76 V8) They do however offer a 11inch 1-5/8 clutch pressure plate. LMC offers a complete clutch kit 11inch but the are saying it is for the 1948-55 V8 F series. I have the 226 flat 6. I have called both MAC's and LMC and they are telling me that do not have what I need.

So my questions are...does anyone have any experience in dealing with a 1948 11inch HD clutch disc? Will the 1948 V8 F series clutch kit work with my 1948 226 flat six? Any information is greatly appreciated!

Thanks all!
Don

Correct me if I am wrong , But are you saying your transmission input shaft is 1-5/8" in dia. Just measured mine to check it is 1-3/8"10 spline .If you can't buy one then take yours to a brake and clutch shop and have it rebuilt . I was quoted $60.00 to do mine before I decided to go with a T5 tranny .

I agree with preferring the rebuild option -- not only cheaper, but you know it will fit. From the parts catalog, all 11" clutches appear to be the same, and not differentiated between the 6 or V8 engines.

Model "C" in the second column indicates F-1; "D" is F-2 and so on. First attachment is for pressure plates, second is discs. The last column is the part number covering those models (COTT-7563-A for PP, 81T-7550 for disc)
