Amazing car story!

I know this is the wrong forum, but I read something on msn that I thought you guys would enjoy. I'm sure I'll get the exact numbers wrong, but close.

A woman bought a Mercury Comet Caliente new in IIRC 1964. She just now sold it or junked it with 579,000 miles on it!!!! That is 22 times around the world! And I'll bet it had an Autolite 4100 on it!

I think Ford should jump all over that story and make a commercial just for her!

That's fantastic. I believe the Caliente only came with the 289, but that could be wrong also. My dad used to have one, until a tree fell on it, and they are beautiful cars. Love to find another one.

She has not sold it yet, she is looking for someone who will take care of it as meticulously as she did. And I believe it was 576,000 miles. In any case, that is a lot of miles, and I agree, Ford should make a commercial about it.

It should be placed in the HF museum. I seen the story before and she said she has all of the receipts for the purchase through the latest repair.

the cars name is chariot. after an incident last month where she ran a red light she gave up her drivers license because of failing eye sight at 94 i believe years of age.
the car is a 64. it has a 260 V8 with a 2 barrel carb.
the engine has never been opened up, and she is the only one that has ever driven it.
