I thought that at first. Did some measuring and it sits up above the front dif. and axle so felt a bit better about it. Luckily I don't go off road.

welp discovered 2 things poking around the truck...
1... its still a truck... lol
2.. someones had installed exhaust manifold gaskets on it at some point in its past.. im going to assume it was done when the block was replaced at 53K...

Yes, with the upgraded joints the 2 main heat shields are retained

Yes it's normal. The non braided flex joint is the usual culprit.
