AOD C6 Swap

Hey guys I got a buddy whose got a 87 F150 4x4 supercab long bed with a 351 and a AOD tranny. We were wondering what all it takes to get a C6 in there cause the AODs keep crappin out.
Any help is very appreciated. Thanks

How long are the AODs lasting... only minutes or do they seem fine at the beginning and gradually begin to slip over time? Is the TV cable connected and adjusted correctly?
That truck would not have had an AOD originally(unless it was a 5.0 truck to begin with) so it's possible you have the wrong flexplate on the 5.8 which is instant death to an AOD.
In any event going back to a C6 is relativley simple with a small block 4x4 donor trans, but the tranny cross member and both driveshafts will also have to be changed.

The AODs are lasting a decent amount of time, its just the truck their in has 9" of lift and 38" tires. If you get it out playin in the mud too much they seem to have a short life. All my trucks have C6s and I havent had a problem. And your right it was originally a 302 truck. But it sounds pretty easy to change so we may tackle it. Thank you
