Back Up Cam Installs?

Already posted this in the 1968 & Newer Vans Forum----thought I'd try this one too!

Anyone already done this? Looking for a stand-alone system for my '00 E250 with emphasis on semi-high quality, thinking somewhere in the $300 price range. Would like the camera to be hidden or at least not too visible to the casual eye. Preference would be a monitor maybe 7" in size that could be mounted overhead and lowered when needed, out of view while driving normally.

Killer RC posted about his own install: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...a-install.html but his incorporated into an in-dash head unit. I did like the camera installation--I'd like to have something similar.

Have checked out the Pyle PLCM7700 and PLCM34/35 models which so far is nothing more than getting familiar with these products and systems. Would love to hear or see any info or opinions from actual installations and usage----nothing like hands-on real-world users IMHO.

Thanks in advance---looking forward to what cha got!

Generally anything made by Pyle is exactly that - if you're looking for quality look elsewhere.

The product base changes so rapidly I'd recommend calling Crutchfield, they'll be up to date. It'll cost more than ebay but you'll ultimately save by eliminating the trial & error.

If you need help with the wiring & fab part from there let me know.

(btw- your link is dead)

I fixed the link----thanks for pointing that out BoulderGuy!

Cost isn't the primary concern but I'm thinking or hoping a basic but high quality back up cam only system can be had for my $300 target.

I'll certainly keep your offer for help in mind. Even though I'm fairly good at audio/video routing and installations generally someone with hands on experience is always one step better than guessing.

BTW do you have any brands you like in particular? Pyle was just one and I agree they're not the best at most anything they offer.

I used a Pioneer Camera that works with my Pioneer deck. I've seen a lot of Boyo Cams advertised, don't know much about them though.
