Then it's time to play with the shrinker/stretcher.

Hey Jeff,
You are going all High Tech on us over there! It looks really good.
You aren't going to end this tutorial by posting a pic of your thumb
are you?

I can't think in 3D - I just see a flat sheet of metal. How long did it take to get the curve right? Looking really good over there.

Honestly, I only worked on this for a couple hours..that's from garage door open to garage door closed. The actual time to do the curve ???? 20-30 minutes being careful and a beginner.

Hey Ben hopefully this is the only thumb I post!

Great job Jeff. I am impressed. I think that is what is really great about this site, people sharing their skills and insights and it motivates others to challenge themselves to take on new challenges.

I am a novice and I always figure, "I can't make it any worse than it already is, so try it!

Rockcrln is my inspiration, he has the skill and tools. I give him the credit here.
I am just giving you the HARBOR FRIEGHT version!
Mine won't be anywhere near as good as his, but it will be better than it was.
I bought the shrinker/stretcher set for $120 and the brake for $40..
2' x 4' 18 g sheetmetal $14.00
My point here...it's not even the cost of one fiberglass upper fender...why not try it and learn? Thanks guys. and again to Kevin(rockcrln) thanks for taking the time to show us the ropes!

Jeff,
Your off to a good start. Keep at it and the rust will slowly start to vanish.
