I have a 62 F100 4x4 I need to bring back from the West Coast to the East Coast. Will this truck fit on a 6' wide Flatbed trailer? The truck isn't near me to measure it. It has 35" tires. Any and all input would be much appreciated. Thanks
I have doubts about it fitting. Your probably going to be better served renting a trailer from Uhaul, Penske or Budget. Cost you a couple hundred, but they are trailers that are designed to haul long distances.
Guy said his F150 will fit, but I have my doubts. It doesn't have the angle iron that usually surrounds the floor. It just has the wood floor so I was hoping the tires would sit on it, bit it isn't looking promising.
Personally I wouldn't chance a cross country trip on a trailer with the tires halfway off the trailer. I think my truck (65 F100 2wd) wouldn't fit on a 6ft trailer.
That price is about right. However it is a lot further from West Coast to East Coast. Tires half on I could do with 4 log chains & 4 ratchet binders. I doubt I would have even half the tires on the trailer though.
Ive done some crazy stuff like that hauling heavy equipment, but not a few thousand miles.
Best of luck man. I still think renting a trailer will be the best bet. How are you getting out to the coast anyway? Im assuming your hauling a trailer there. You probably could rent a trailer local for 4-5 days, pull it out there, load it and get back. Just a thought. I dont know how rental places handle longer term rentals like that.
I used to have a set of skinny stock size tires to bolt on to my truck to be able to trailer it. It would not fit on my trailer with 315/75R-16's on 10 inch wide wheels.
I just used the tape measure method to get a basic alignment done on my truck before I take it to an alignment shop. With stock tires, my truck is 53 3/4 inside to inside on the front tires. Figure 8.5 inches wide on the front tires, and you have 70 3/4 wide, and that is stock. I wouldn't risk it on a stock truck with only 1.25 inches to spare.
