Question Noises after shut down 2022 F-350 6.7 Sounds like an Owl

I was unable to get video uploaded to here, but you can hear the noise at the end. I have 650 miles on my truck. I live in MN ,so it's been cold ever since I've owned it. But, just about every time I shut it down, it hoots like an owl several times. Anyone else get this, and what the heck is it? It definitely comes from under the hood. I'll be calling the dealer today to hear their explanation, but wanted some first hand info first if possible. Thanks for any info you have!

it is fine, lots of noises.

Probably the DEF system pumping the line empty and back into the def tank.

took me a few weeks to get used to the weird noises at shut down.
pump noises, fan noise, actuators etc

sometimes with hood up and truck is off, but i have unlocked the door a few minutes before, it makes actuator noises at the egr cooler.
its ALIVE

That’s a weird sound. Never heard that one from my 6.7. Sure a bird didn’t make a nest in there?

My 2020 does it but since it never affected drivability I just sing along. Interested in what your dealer says though.

Try having your hand near one of those actuators after you cycle the key on then off performing a wiring mod and not knowing the actuator is going to do something. Glad my wife wasn't there to see me jump the way I did. About broke my neck getting away from the truck as fast as I did. Scared the crap out of me.

Second this, DEF freezes around 10F. The truck will clear the lines and keep everything in the tank which has a heater. If not the lines wouldn't be able to defrost.

I was thinking it was a crow under my hood the first time I heard it. No one seems to have an explanation for that noise. I have about the same mileage.

Mine has done the same thing since I picked it up last September. I haven't taken it in to have it checked out... there were some threads around here or the Tremor site that was full of folks with the same noises... Some say it is the EGR valve... some sa the DEF pump like mentioned above... I dunno. Nothing seems to be amiss though so far. Will be interested to hear what the dealer says...

My 2022 F350 6.7 makes this sound too, though it’s not quite as loud or shrill, it’s there, and the exact same rhythm….what did the dealer say?

That's exactly what my 22 F350 Tremor sounds like. Sometimes it squaks 3 times, sometimes only once and then sometimes not at all. The first time I heard it, before daylight one morning, I almost ran!!!

I have heard it a few times since I posted last. I think it's normal. Some emissions crap I'm sure.

Whew! I'm feeling a little better after reading the above comments. Just picked up my "long awaited" truck, drove it 900 miles home, absolutely amazed about the mileage and performance with the 10 speed. But, heard the "chirping" noise first, then a sound like a small pump was running. The chirping occurs soon after shutting the engine off, sounds like a bird, the first time I heard it I'd thought there was one in the garage, but it's coming from under the hood. Then I noticed a faint, hard to actually hear, sound like a small pump running, which soon shut off. I couldn't clearly define where it was coming from. This truck will be our fourth Super Duty, and none of the previous trucks have produced any weird sounds, but after reading I'm a little more at ease, we're leaving on an extended trip in a couple of days, so the concern factor was/is in play. Glad I found this thread though
