If you are still getting the "snarling" noise you described before I still say it has something to do with the AIR system. How did you check the tube on the back of the heads?
I sprayed carb cleaner to check for leaks (what I was told to do by the guys at adv auto parts) and nothing. This may have been the wrong method though. What would you have done, and where would you check?
And thanks for all the help!! I need it!!! This is an area I don't know a whole lot about.
Ps. The engine noise is much louder when the SPOUT isn't connected.
Spraying carb. cleaner or anything else on the AIR system pipes/valves will not tell you anything. The tube on the back of the heads, if cracked, allows exhaust gases out.
I am referring to the pieces pictured on the back of the engine:
Use your eyes, ears and sense of touch. You said you have a noise that sounds like an exhaust leak, plus other descriptions, it should not be that difficult to figure out if my theory is correct.
I will do that first thing in the morning. Thanks for all the help! I'll let you know how it goes. this is something I have never had to deal with so im a little lost. thanks for explaining everything for me! helps alot!!
I am not able to listen to your truck in person. Trying to diagnose a "noise" issue across the 'net is risky at best. I thought I would give it try and give you some ideas to check out.
