UPDATED update on aftermarket cruise

Ok, This is an update on my previous post concerning adding Cruise Control to my son's 2006 F150 XL 4.2L

I found the part online. I have received VERY good instructions on this forum about how to install the parts. Now I have a NEW problem and I want to see if anyone else has run in to this.

My wife works at a Ford Dealership. The SHop foreman has researched this and has told my wife it is no longer possible to add cruise to this truck. He says there is some kind of "safety" issue(if any more detail was given I wasn't told. I didn't talk to the foreman). He further stated that it is no longer possible to buy these parts ( I know Ford doesn't list the horn pad in their parts database).

The foreman said he used to do this add-on but the instructions/procedures to program the computer are no longer available.

Comments anyone???????

The only thing that I can figure as to why it is not possible anymore would be because of the recall they had on the airbags but other then that I can't imagine anything that would hold you back. I am not even sure if your truck had the airbag recall on it. You may want to talk to the foreman yourself because that doesn't make much sense without more information.

X2 on what coskid said. I don't see how it would be a safety issue. And if it was, than every 04+ F150 with cruise would have a safety issue cause the factory installation and program is exactly the same as the add on. Just doesn't make sense

I've sold hundreds of cruise controls for the 2004-2008 F150 trucks and include the instructions with each unit and have never had a return or a problem with the dealer activating the cruise control.
