Gearheads Power Steering

Well, Blundells went out of business, so I'm looking for a power steering kit for my F-1 w/flathead V8. Has anyone her ever installed a powersteering kit from Gearheads ? Are there any other alternatives for F-1s with Flathead V8s? Thanks for any help.

Ooooh. Thats a link worth bookmarking! (Has stuff i can use for my '53 Ford cars)
Don't know how their steering conversion is set up. They sure don't post up many pics of their stuff. Someone else on here may have tried Gearheads' p/s kit on their truck. On my '56 I used a Toyota p/s box conversion. Its my understanding that this same Toyota box can be worked into the '48-'52 trucks. Mid-Fifty as well as CPP sell kits for the 53-56. I could have sworn someone used one of these kits on their pre-53 truck. Hopefully someone will chime in and give a little advice.

I think the toyota ps is a clean way to go and uses modern parts. If the gearhead system is the old ram assist I think I'd pass.

Back in the day of the Granada with the power assist,OMG flashbacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a tech it made me alot of money repairing these steering systems. I've gone Toyota, K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) an old adage taught to us by our old shop teacher, who was an avid rodder.

I went and looked at that link he posted @Gearheads. This is what they listed-
GEARHEADS EXCLUSIVE
Integral Power Steering Gearbox Mounting Kit
for 1948-1952 Ford F100 or F250 Pickups

Convert your manual steering to integral power steering.
Easy to install, with no welding required.
The pitman arm is in the same location as your original pitman arm.
This kit uses all of your original steering linkage.
Works with your original straight axle front ends.
Works well with Gearheads power steering pump, brackets and pulley combinations.
Kit includes: pitman arm, mounting bracket and mounting hardware.
When available, we can also supply the power steering gearbox.
Also available: steering coupler; hose kit, with reusable ends; column clamp, to anchor the steering column to the firewall; and column tube bearing.
This item sells for $250.00, plus shipping.

Almost sound like a possible Toyota box swap? The really don't explain much or have many pics on the web site. Might be worth giving them a call and asking them what it all entails.

Flathead with PS is a whole 'nuther animal here. The Toy box isn't the issue. Getting the proper pump, and belt to work it, is.

$250 +s/h for the box kit, and another $395 for the pump, bracket, and pulley.
