1972 Coil Spring Lift?
Hey guys, looking to do a 2" lift on my 2wd truck. Leveling would be a more appropriate term. I want to put larger wheels and tires on her and wouldnt mind a new look. I found a local shop (finally) that will do Ibeam bending so the alignment wont be an issue. The real problem is what coil spring will be as close to a direct bolt in as possible. Had a friend work on a 73, used 1980 E350 clubwagon springs and it lifted it 2"-3". Unfortunately I have read that those are double pigtail springs and the ones on my 72 are Pigtail and tangential. I wont do a body lift. Any info would be greatly be appreciated.
Thanks guys

i did the 3 inch kit. what you get is springs for the lift. you get bent beams that are plated to make stronger. you also get a new set of tie rods that are adjustable on each side instead of just the drivers side. john at autofab has been selling these kits for a long time. i think he knows what he is doing.

I dont doubt that his kit is good, but once again the only thing that i wouldnt be getting ( atleast not right away) is the tie rod ends, I can pickup a set of beams at a junk yard for 100$ if that, 50 bucks to get them bent, and new springs for 100 (whatever they are) and only b into a lift for half of their asking price, plus there is still shipping to consider as well which im sure isnt cheap. Thnk you for the tip though.

Lift
72AmericanPride,years ago I had my 72 F-250 2wd lifted up front.A local shop took my I-Beams and cut out the jog at the spindle and fabbed in a new piece that took the place of the jog.The new section located the spindle about 2-1/2"lower than stock. then they had it x-rayed and did a strength test of some kind .I bought a set of one ton springs, put it all together, got an alignment and put my new 33x12/50 16.5s on and have been running it that way since 1976.I did not have to change any brake lines, bump stops and used the same shocks and ended up with a full 4" lift up front. It's a bit of a rough ride but I like it that way plus considerable handling improvement.I used stock Ford 3" blocks on the back,Monroe Air Shocks and custom one ton spring packs from National Spring when they were still in San Diego.

Nod, thanks for the insight. Thats a little higher lift than what im looking for. I have read several articles and forums on the exact way that u achieved you lift, also the beam flip? but I was hoping not to have to go that far. I am going to call Eatons Springs tomorrow, (if their open) and see about the f100 springs, or just having my own made.
Thanks again guys, I appreciate it.
