Fuel Filter/Water Separator Drain Leak

Fuel Filter/Water Separator Drain Leak
My valley is full. There is fuel smell. and when running i see a drip from the bottom of the drain valve body below the yellow handle. The short piece of hose that connects the drain to the tube is soaked. Are there no clamps on this? There should be no pressure there right? I read a post on another forum about this and the guy used some o-rings sourced outside Ford which I like but they were inch size and I have my doubts about that. Everything else is metric. He said the kit from Ford was $40 and that's ridiculous. But somewhere in between lays the answer. Does the stem of the drain valve poke out the bottom of the black housing? The leak is surely from the bottom and I think there are 3 o-rings here I assume on the same stem. True?
Can someone provide me with the size and quantity of these? I can’t wait for shipping once I remove this so I want to pre order or buy them so I can do it all at once. She’s my daily driver.

This is the page you need. It has the instructions to repair and a link to buy the o-rings. Just did this for the second time this past week. It's a common failure, especially this time of year.

Check out this video. It walks you through the process and it is based off of the guzzle write up that Texas Outlaw posted.
There are also links in the video description for all the parts you might need.

Thanks all who replied. Turns out I needed the whole valve anyway $53 at Ford. the new one is apparently improved with o-rings. the one that came out had no o rings just sealant. which begs the question if Ford improved the set up by adding o rings why the @#$% was that not a recall? the same thing with the Hutch Mod in the fuel tank how did they leave such a crappy design go so long? Anyway its more work to remove the bowl but well worth it from an educational as well as thoroughness and care to not drop stuff in places of mystery. Just a note A/Ox4 great video nice close ups. I agree highly recommend to replace the rubber behind the flares on the fuel lines too. mine did not leak when re-used but i was worried and they will probably be next. also while on my sop box about Ford why the he77 did the leave the drain tube so short? how much would an additional 6-12 inches have hurt? i put a drain pan underneath and there was at least 5 streams after it hit the suspension WTF its reminiscent of an Escort i had that when you removed the oil filter the oil traveled along to extremes of a cross member and just out of the reach of one medium drain pan!

mine is early 99 and it had o rings. As a matter of fact I have alot of spares somewhere if someone is in need of some. I ended up with two packages of them somehow. I was thinking each package had 50 in it or maybe 25 per either way I have alot of them if someone is in need I will locate them.

its real easy I think there are only two bolts and two orings. I dont think I even took the fuel bowl off, but if you planto take the fuel bowl off I would replace all the o-rings. I have them here and ready when I yank my bowl next time.

you're right Ponyboychris there are two o rings mine are flattenned out and appear to be part of the old housing. with all the fuel issues ive had and read about i just as soon replace anything old plastic if i remove it. i still say why if ford is so tough why do they use crappy plastic stuff? by the way there are 4 blots unlike caverjoe said. the pre 99 i think was 2

I have my new o rings in and am ready to start this job. My biggest question is how in the world do i access the passenger side fuel lines? I cant even get my fingers down there. Even assuming i get them undone, how do i snug the fittings back to the fuel bowl if i cant get to them?

I know this was about a year ago I just had to replace the whole valve.
After I replaced it ( yesterday) there was no longer a leak. How ever (Today) when i got to work i noticed it was leaking again but not out of the valve body itself. Its now leaking out of the end of the drain hose that is located under the engine.. I know I put the valve on correctly and it wasnt doing that yesterday... could it just be a bad valve and already needs replacing after 1 day?
Thanks,
Zack
