Ok so my buddy has a 1982 ford bronco and he is wanting to know what transmission he has his bronco is stock 4 speed hooked up to a inline 6 300 anyone know what kind of transmission he has?

 

could be an NP435, T18 or srod. what does the gear shifter say?

has he crawled under the truck to check for a tag saying what it is??

 

I have a pic of side casting number email me for pic zcklumpkin@gmail.com I'm 99.9% sure its not a np435 or t18 I have both I have a 79 f150 that a t18 came out and putting a 435 and his doesn't have granny gear ill ask him what order gears r

 

Most likely, it's an NP-435. They were the more common transmission behind the 300.

If it's an NP-435, it'll have a big NP inside a ring on the rear-facing side of the transmission.

If it's an SROD, the shifter will need to be pressed DOWN, and then left and up, to go into reverse. It'll also have overdrive instead of a granny gear.


If it's neither of those two, it's probably the T18.

My tranny doensn't have a tag neither do my differentials or my Tcase...

 

start working on an np435 swap, that tranny is garbage
