1983 F 250 air force Woes

Hello,
longtime lurker, new member. Ford truck person, (of course). Own 2 1975 F250 4x4's, 1979 Bronco, and the subject of my Question for the experts, a 1983 F250 2wheel drive Short stake bed (minus stakes), air force surplus Flat bed.( 460 4V, C6 unknown rear Diff. or ratio, (numbers on tag make no sense). Love the truck, bought 2010, with 49,000 miles. Now has 73,000. Mainly used for hunting, But Love it.

All the online vin decoders tell me Vin is not a valid #, and I think it revolves around the 8th digit. My question is : the 8th digit of my vin is L, but most online decoders use that for 5.4. Can someone tell me what the code for 460 would be ? Many Thanks

Caspar.

1981 and later trucks, Bronco's, Econolines have a 17 digit VIN .. The 8th digit is the engine code.

1961/80's have an 11 digit VIN, the 4th digit is the engine code.
