Passenger side is dead

My buddy has a 02 that all of the sudden had hard start and a very rough idle.
He put a laser temp reader on the exhaust manifolds and the passenger side did not get hot. He lives off a dirt road, so I told him most likely a VCH plug came loose and to change them out. Well he did that today and it did not fix the issue. Any ideas what to look at next?
Thanks

I think the IDM will go out that way as well. Did he check the external part of the valve cover connector and ohm it out?

Ohm the injectors and look for one that is reading just a little lower than all the others. A bad injector soleniod will cause the IDM to shut down the entire bank. When I saw one, it ohmed at around 3.2 while the other 7 injectors were 3.6 - 3.7

"Injector Driver Module"... kinda like a power amplifier for the PCM ("Powertrain Control Module").

The IDM is on the inside of the driver's side fender... you have to take the inner fenderwell out to do it. Carefull, there are a few harnesses pinned down to the top of it under the hood. After it's out, you'll see it tucked up right about where the fender badge is at.

Here is a decent write up for testing IDM and injectors.

GB_Tech_Bulletin_103_Ford IDM_Module_Replacement (1).pdf

The IDM is located inside the DS fender behind the F250/F350 badge. Here is a picture without the fender, you do not need to remove the fender just the wheel well.

I saw a picture where someone had it relocated to the inside of the fender between the distribution block and the fender. Might've been that way from the factory as it was either an '02 or an '03.

same problem with my truck, except driver's side Under valve Cover Harness(UVCH) inner plug went bad. replaced with new gasket and innder wiring harness, cost about $100
truck started and has been running perfectly! This is the most common and not too expensive to fix!

Try unplugging one injector at a time. All my solenoids measured fine but had a armature plate loose taking out a bank. Even though all measured fine.
