Replacement Y-pipe for V-10

Hi guys,

Where can I get a complete replacement Y-pipe for the V-10?

I saw the $80 Ebay Y-pipe parts, but I believe they do not include the flanges to the exhaust manifolds.

I want/need a complete replacement, the rust has killed the OEM exhaust after 10 yrs.

Thanks

They are sold with the 5 star tuner, but you could probably arrange to buy them separate. There are two kinds, old style and new style

Old style - Custom Tuned X3 + SPD Ypipe Combo Kit for 1999-2000 Ford Superduty F/E Series Vehicles - 5 Star Tuning

New Style - Custom Tuned X3 + SPD Ypipe Combo Kit for 2000-2004 Ford Superduty F/E Series Vehicles - 5 Star Tuning

If your pipe looks like the one below you need the old style

The only complete replacements I know of is OE. Other options are to get one fabbed up or go to set of headers which replaces the y-pipe assembly.(Banks, Doug Thorley, Hedmann) The SPD only replaces the necked down portion on the OE y-pipe, thus you current OE y-pipe needs to be in good condition.

That's my problem, but it is 10 yrs old and the road crews love salt in the winters. The OEM Y-pipe is very rustly like the rest of the exhaust.

I have replaced the muffler and tail pipe. Also looking for a new cat, the pipes are toast on it also.

I've seen a few posts that say "flutter" occurs with the high flow y-pipe and stock exhaust manifolds. Does flutter cause harm, or just an annoying sound?

The flutter is an annoying sound, won't harm anything. The headers get rid of the flutter. If you plan on keeping your truck for a while I would suggest investing in a set of Banks headers.(They come with a replacement y-pipe) The stock manifolds are horrible and do not even make very good boat anchors.

I am seriously considering the headers. Do they produce an extra noise when driving 75 mph?

Not really. You are going to get some header "noise" due to the thinner tubing but it is nothing that is too bad. The OE manifolds are thick cast stainless so less noise gets though. Trust me any noise that comes through the tubes is not near as annoying as flutter. My dad went the SPD route and kept the stock manifolds to save money and the flutter in the mid to upper 2k rpm range can be annoying.

If you don't want to go the header route and keep the manifolds, like I said before your only choice is to buy another over priced OE y-pipe assembly or get one fabbed at an exhaust shop.(and deal with any resulting exhaust flutter) The 00'-04' OE y-pipe does a good job at killing flutter but it does so at the exspence of power.
