A limited slip? Two ways
1) The white door tag on your driver's door should have 2 digits under the axle code. A number AND a letter is Limited slip. Two numbers is an open diff.
2) There is a metal tag attached to the right side of the rear axle. If "LS" is stamped right after a 3 in a series of numbers, then you have a limited slip.
A locking axle wasn't available from the factory in the F150 until the 09+ models.
Well I know when I got my new exhaust i smoked my tires just i little bit and both of them were smoking but then last night i got in some snow on only one spun which confused me
A limited slip will still provide enough power to both wheels to get them to spin. It's dependant upon a bunch of variables, like road conditions, turning radius, etc. Mine with a 3.73LS will break them loose too. If one spun in the snow...it's not locked.
Ok. The one thing that confused me is we got 5 inches of snow saturday and the roads were horrible and when i was sitting in 4x4 at a redlight and took off all 4 spun lol
Not surprised. Not difficult to get 4 tires to lose traction with 365lb/ft of torque and less than ideal conditions. Sounds like the truck is working like it should.
