49 F1 hood dowel

Hello All. New to this site. Currently searching for a hood dowel -and some discussion, for a 1949 F1 (pickup). I've tried LMC, Mac's and google. Will pick up a recent issue of Hemmings. Can anyone direct me to obtaining this part? Thanks in advance. Andy

Welcome to the board!!

I applaud you for putting the year and type of truck in your thread title, that makes it easier for us.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say hood dowel. Are you talking about the latching pin?

Bobby

Hey-thanks for the quick reply. I have the release but do not have the metal rod with surrounding spring and associated hardware that affix to the hood and enter the nose through a hole when the hood is closed. Currently, I have the latch mechanism, which does engage but I don't have the "pin" assembly. I'm not quite sure what I'm missing if it requires more than the spring and pin to lock properly. Thanks again

Thanks '49! You are right -that is pricey. Can I use a later model year and retrofit?

I should have a couple as well in used condition.

The 48-50 bolt is longer than the 51-52 bolt. The hardware is the same.

Hi Dean,
Do you still have that longer hood dowel, spring and cup for 1948-50 truck?

Dean, I may have been a bit naive- I do need the dowel but I'd like to send a picture of the nose of the hood where the dowel and spring sits. I only seen to have the safety latch and no other hardware. I may need more parts or some direction. Thanks. Andy

Thanks Bill. As we have a couple of us wanting these parts I was thinking about asking you if you knew where these parts might be found. But you beat me to it. Thanks!

I haven't needed you services yet as I am not far along in my build, but I am amazed at your ability to come up with this info! It may seem simple to you, but what a great asset you are! Thanks for your service!
