3:31 was a very common gearset with the 302s, my silver 95 came with them.

Also not true. My last pickup was a 95 I6 5 speed 4x4 with 3:73s. Stock from the factory

I dont know whats worse, the OPs ignorance or the people trying to "help" him

That would be why I put a question mark in parentheses and stated " that I know of" because I wasn't sure.

But thanks for clearing the air

Axle code is for 3.31 non LS.. that's news to me. But I guess it's common as stated by Blue Rebel.

Transmission would be the AOD-E or 4R70w I believe which are both electronically controlled and can be tuned through the computer for some $$$. For some reason I thought this was an older truck.

As for the 31s I'd go either 4.10 or 4.56 since you have OD. that'd get you some better acceleration off the line. I'd also look into a good LS unit for added traction.

The AOD E was not offered in a truck , so its the 4R70W , and thats good , it has the wide ratio gear sets ....

Maybe they were ordered? All I was saying, and I retract my statement.....

That I've NEVER seen 3.73's in a F-150.....Not saying its not to be seen....

And as for "Helping" him......I wasn't the one demanding to be told what to do to a truck, and took X amount of posts, before even telling what engine is in the truck.....

With 31" tires and 4.10s, at 60 you'll see about 1870. With 4.56s you'll see 2070.

It'll do tons better than stock with either gear ratio. May even see a boost in MPG in the city with lower gearing but may take a hit on highway driving depending on the speed.
