What I found interesting about those trim rings is that they were "A Fair Trade Product Sold Under Applicable Fair Trade Laws." - I guess even then, the U.S. was outsourcing manufacturing to other countries...

White wall tires were impossible to obtain after WWII ended. It wasn't until late in 1947 that white walls were available again in abundance.
The Korean War began June 1950.
