My brother bought a '87 F-150 4X4 and the front hubs on it look like something off of a ranger or broncoII. When you remove the front tire/rim the whole assembly will just pull right off in your hand. This seems to be extremely weak for a full size truck. He claims they do work, as he has yanked a few large trees around with it. I want to know what all I have to change them over to the WARN style hubs that were on most of the ford 4x4's of that era. Any info would be appreciated.

Those are the flange style lockouts and they're hella lame. To go to good 'ol internals you'll need parts from an earlier or later truck (ie NOT '87 or some of '88.) At the very least you'll need stub shafts, spindles, wheel bearing hubs and rotors. Not certain about calipers. And, obviously, new internal lockouts.

Yep - that's the whole list. Calipers will still work, so no brake bleeding necessary.

You could probaly get all of that from a soon to be wrecked truck, maybe quicker if the the snow flies.
