Anyone towing moderate load with Ecoboost?

I have towed a 16' trailer with two atvs behind mine and the mileage didn't vary much from when I'm not towing.
But in all honesty, I only towed the trailer with atvs about 20 miles round trip.
Mileage aside, the power available to pull that load up and down the hills around here to get to our riding destination more than makes up for the little less mpg my truck will get, compared to the last F150 I had.

My 5.4 gets between 8 and 9 mpg towing my 29,' just under 6700 lbs loaded TT. I gotta believe that the Eco wouldn't be any worse. My truck has no issues with power, so the Eco would have more than enough, but those spooling turbo's would cause higher fuel consumption if really working hard.

At a corporate level, Ford seems to still push commercial haulers, who are trailering daily, to the Super Duty line and especially the diesel. The Ecoboost is targeted at the guy who commutes to work every day, then wants to pull his travel trailer on the weekend. And, from all indications, it seems to do a fantastic job of that!

Your highway towing mpg will depend mostly on the frontal area, rather then the weight. Once a weight is rolling, it does not need much to keep it rolling (on a level surface), but you keep on punching that (huge) hole in the air with a travel trailer as an example.
In the mountains, as well as in the city (stop & go), the weight will have more impact on your fuel consumption.

Since buying my FX4 I have made two trips to our summer cabin which is 250 miles, round trip, from home, I pulled my utility trailer with a lawn mower
trip #1- 13.8 mpg, truck had around 1000 miles, regular gas, had a bagger on lawn mower which may have affected milage
trip #2- 14.3, truck had 2000 miles, using premium gas, took bagger off mower
95% of driving was 70mph on highway
FYI-daily driving average 16 mpg
2011 FX4,ECO,3.73, 20" Rims, from reading different posts I think this is the worst combo to expect great mileage.

I have a 2011 special order CC Lariat Plus EB 2WD/Heavy Duty Tow Pkg. with the 6.5' bed and 3:73 gear and I just completed my 1st tow (at 2,500 miles) of our 30' Rockwood 5th wheel here in Central Florida. I traded a 2006 F250 V10 CC 4X4 w/3:73 gear for the EB. I am very impressed with the capabilities of this thing while towing. The 5er weighs in about 9,5oo lbs dry and the truck pulls at least as well as the V10!!! The V10 got between 9 and 11 MPG pulling the same trailer (in flat Florida). The EB got 9.4 ave. pulling thru stop and go traffic in Lakeland and down to Bartow. Then on the open road on Hwy. 60 it turned 13 MPG @62MPH. Easy passing!!! I am getting 16-18 combined and best on the road was 20.1 at 75MPH on a trip to Atlanta - keep your foot out of the turbos and it gets pretty good mileage. LOVE IT!!! DO NOT RAP ON THE THROTTLE FROM A STOP!!! I think it could yank the hitch out of the bed!!

I regularly tow a 7x16 cargo trailer, weighs between 6500-7500 lbs, loaded with tools. I've gotten as low as 10mpg, and as high as 16... (less 20% because my calculations are in imperial measurements). Regardless of the mpg, this driveline doesn't break a sweat, has never felt like it was "working", whereas my '08 F150/4x4 would definitely feel loaded.

Has anyone with the EB looked at EGT's yet while towing? My old '05 Dodge 2500, Cummins Diesel, Auto, 3.73 rear, 4x4, Quad Cab with mild mods; Edge tuner, AFE-cai, MBRP Cat-Back would go like a bat out of hell towing anything. However if you pushed it a little pulling a grade it was not uncommon to see 1350 on the EGT gauge. I think back on the Dodge Forums the guys used to say the OEM Turbo melted down at around 1370-1380 degrees??
I'm reading about all of you guys pulling 9-10K with you EB, doing 70+ up steep grades. As a previous Turbo diesel owner here, I'm just wondering how hot those turbos are really getting. Is there a plug in diag tool that lets you see EGT's from a hand held or do you have to tap the exhaust downpie like onb a diesel?

Did I read one of these posts right that someone got 14mpg towing a Friggin lawnmower? That must have been a heavy trailer or a huge mower........

The culprit-
I was surprised my mileage suffered towing , my last truck was a 7.3 Diesel and I never noticed my mileage dropping with that set up.
I do like the ecoboost, I have close to 4000 miles on it and I'm hoping to see an increase in mpg soon. What kills my mileage here in Michigan is the cold engine/warm up etc.
What would be really cool is if we could load an app on main menu showing boost pressure, my old 1987 TBird has a gauge showing boost, I'm surprised Ford isn't allowing us to see that.
