I've been reading all the back pages on this forum bookmarking all I think I will need in the future while building my'49 F1 and have noticed how patient everyone has been with all of us newbies no matter how many times the same questions are asked. I just visited some of the other forums on here and man heaven help you if you ask a so called stupid question, they will fry you. So I guess my point is thanks to all of you on her for being great people that remember that you had to have someone at one time help you learn this.

Some of us get cranky once in awhile, but it's fairly rare. The average age here is probably close to 50 IMHO and we have grandkids we've learned to love in spite of continuous questions - might be a correlation there someplace??

I'm the cranky one - I will remind everyone that they can scroll back or after 25 posts use the search function - Oh and to buy the repair and parts manual
Then when you've tried it "As Specified" then I will try and help with things that I or someone else has done eaiser thru tried and true frustration.
I think that for most folks it helps them to look at the problem first then how it's supposed to be then they can understand the tips that are given

Oh and Welcome as you've noticed we here are the best of FTE because we really work on our Trucks - Very little bolt on Bunny Foo-Foo stuff.

Wish I could remember being 50... oh well.

Welcome to FTE. I may be the first to ask for pics of your truck, but I will definitely not be the last. And if I get cranky, tell me to go lie down.

The same questions get asked over and over. Some of us even remember some of the answers. Yeah, it a'nt a bad place to hang. And a few of us were around when these old pieces were the latest and greatest.

Thumbs up

I agree that this is a great forum. I may be considered a "youngster" by what I've read in this thread (32?), but I think I'm wise enough to appreciate the knowledge a group has to offer.

I'm just getting going on my own '49 F-1 and I visit this forum almost everyday and learn something new twice as often... Thanks all.

Jim

Glad you found our little corner of the net

We don't mind silly questions, in fact we prefer them because we stand a better chance of answering them right the first time....LOL

We were all newbies at one time

This is the most friendly and accepting forum I've been on. This board will accept everything from rat rods (gag-gag) to full by the number restorations. That can't be said about most other boards I visit.

The HAMB is also a great site for tips and information but there are some real jerks over there. If you let on that you're not working on a HAMB friendly vehicle they'll eat you alive. If you're new to the hobby and have what some consider elementary questions some over there can be harsh, only shows there personality flaws.

The same goes pretty much for Buick boards I visit. I have an interest in '37-38 Buicks. The members on the ACAA pre-war Buick board are very intolerant of non stock cars. The geezers over there will get down right nasty to non stock Buick owners. The Yahoo! '37-38 Buick board is a little tolerant to non stock cars but there are a couple of members there that will snipe about not properly respecting old Buicks.

I haven't found any of the above attitudes here. That's not to say if you post some really stupid ideas and questions you won't get heat. That usually only happens when some one posts a question, gets inputs and then seems to blow off all the suggestions and keep asking the same question over and over. Also don't try to misrepresent who you are, that isn't taken lightly here.

Tee-hee!!

Good for you, Twodogs, for taking the initiative to read first, and educating yourself! There are resources out on the internet that wouldn't have been possible even 15 years ago. Being able to connect with people across the world who are facing the same issues is priceless.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm no youngster, 61, been working on all my own stuff since I was a kid. Now I'm terminally ill and bought this old truck to help me keep from sitting in a chair and drying up, plus it is nice to one thing older than me around! I will be on here a lot and if I can't find it in the post I'll ask. Thanks again, Randy

I think I would agree with everyone else. This seems to be a great forum to me also.
Very friendly compared to most I have been on.
As far as questions, I think you should be able to ask well whatever. That's the main purpose of the forum, to help everyone. Although searching can answer alot of questions anyway.
