Some brands will also say on the bottle "SCA not necessary"
Chevron Delo ELC looks like this:

I have used Evans on one of my turbo charged track cars. It has some benefits on cars whose coolant systems are "challenged" to keep up with extreme situations since it doesn't boil and can be run at 0 pressure. Overall, I don't think its worth it for a PSD. The coolant system on these trucks seems to work well.
I did blow a hose once on that car while using Evans. I made an emergency repair to the hose and topped off with distilled water to make it home. Flushed it all out after that and went with cheaper, readily available distilled water and coolant.

Wow! Thanks for all the very timely info, especially the link to the coolant info. Almost too much. I am thinking of a coolant change this weekend. It has very green coolant.
So, I bought my truck with 191k, has 203 now. Previous owner had for 50k, 5 years. He did not remember doing the water pump.
How would I know if it has been changed, and what is the recommended change interval?
Thanks.
Tom.

I just replaced the water pump on my 02' 7.3 last week. I made the switch to Evans NPG+. I bought another radiator cap and gutted the internals to make it zero pressure. I wish someone would make a low-pressure cap the the 7.3. I'd like to have a little pressure, maybe 2 psi.
The motor has 280,000 on it. I'll report back if there's any problems.

Just a followup, I had to replace the water pump again this week. 299,000 on the odometer. So a new NAPA water pump only lasted 19,000 miles.
Maybe the zero pressure cap had something to do with it, not pushing coolant far enough into the assembly.

Evans is good stuff, but in my opinion, not for the 7.3L PSD.
Our trucks were engineered to run a pressured cooling system. The water pump was engineered to perform that way. Evans is a pressureless system and while I haven't seen any proven data, there has been speculation that our water pumps don't perform well when it comes to circulating the Evans in an optimum manner.

I've been using Evans for a couple years now and it works. Coolant is as clean as it was out of the bottle. It is Not a zero pressure system. I've asked Evans about this and was told to run the stock cap. You CAN run no pressure as it has a higher boiling temp than water, and that may be an advantage for some applications. I bought a 5.00 cap and drilled a hole in it and ran that for a while to get the remaining water out and then put on the stock cap. I like it. No water, no rust, and is supposed to reduce cavitation. In the end, just use the best product available.
