Got the top end off my engine...

I am never running Fel-Pro Head gaskets again. When it lifted the heads, it burned the gasket material behind the firering and left it unsupported. The front cylinder burned through, but the back cylinder firering was still intact, just stretched beyond belief. The passenger side had water in the back cylinder, but the gasket was still intact. The drivers side speaks for itself.

I also compared a 7.3 gasket side by side with the 6.9 and tried it on the block, the 7.3 gasket will work fine on the 6.9 block, and is less swiss-cheese-like. I ordered up a set of 7.3 Victor-Reinz gaskets to go with the 9/16 studs and O-rings...

No, but if these Victors don't do the job with about 300cc of fuel, I will have them made and supply them.

Exactly Jonathan, by the time your truck is on the road, you should have a bulletproof setup!

Another side note I just noticed while looking at the pics.... The gasket blew in the two most unsupported spots on the deck. I'd say that proves it was a lifted head...

Little Bit of an Update time.

I pre-cursor it by saying that the new R&D turbo kit works beautifully. We got it all together on Keith's truck. He was seeing 12psi non-IC on an early banks before (The turbo was on its way out), WOT. Without any tuning, we were seeing 18psi intercooled, and as soon as it got there, it was obliterating the clutch. Drive pressure was 30-31psi (a little high and wastegate limited), has a ton more low-midrange, and EGT's are 200* lower at cruise. Obviously most of that is do to the HX35, but having an efficient hotside doesn't hurt. He has a new southbend coming in this week (His current clutch is a valair 300hp unit), and is heading to alligator performances dyno in a couple of weeks, so the goal is to get it all tuned in by then so he can lay down some decent numbers.

Now back to Smogie...

I posted over at CompetitionDiesel just to get some reassurance on where I should go turbo wise. Those guys seem as unsure as me even after running the numbers, so its looking like I may have to just try some stuff out and go from there. The link is the following just in case anybody wants to read the details...

Help Checking my numbers, and a bit of Direction... - Competition Diesel.Com - Bringing The BEST Together

Also found out this week that I will have to have a new Pump Cam made, nobody wants to regrind the LR cam out of the pump. So I am in the process of drawing a new one up in cad. It will use the stock pump gear that I will modify to make adjustable, as well as the stock timing cover.

More soon...

Is there ever a possibility of you producing a kit to help people bolt on an inline IP on? Like you could produce the intake and pump gear and all that and the buyer would just have to get the pump. That could be a cool possibilty down the line. Especially since you are doing it, it would be easier to reproduce...

Right on Racin! Glad to hear it's coming along! Is Keith using that engine I sold him? I haven't heard from him at all after that so I hope it worked for him

I got some ideas floating around my head, they wont involve a P-Pump, but some other sort of inline pump, maybe an MW or A-pump, or even a modded V-pump. Those will put out plenty of fuel, more cost effective and more available.

Yeah, he rebuilt your old IDIT, that's what he is running.

Looks like the passenger side uppipe V-band wasn't fully seated, so might even see better numbers out if it as it sits as well.
