As far as the PM goes, did you mean Email? If so, Ive gotten slammed this week, and haven't had a chance to respond.

As far as the injectors go, yes I still sell them, I just need to fix my site.... in fact, I should do that right now....
No it wasnt an e-mail, it was a PM through this site.

Basically I was wanting to know if injectors could be causeing my truck to have to spin 8 or 10 times, even when it is warm before it starts. I have 3 idi's, and the other 2 which have injectors of unknown origin and age start within one or 2 turns when they are hot. This truck which has 6 month old injectors that I bought because some people on OB told me that injectors was probably the reason for the poor starting. Before I replaced the injector, I addressed all the common starting issues ie new glow plug and controller, new return lines, new lift pump. I thought for the longest time that my problem HAD to be air intrusion, but I now have a clear filter inline so I can see there is fuel there and a check valve in line before the lift pump, so fuel cant run back into the tank. When I crank it fuel immediatly come out the schrader valve and the are no apparent leaks from any of the return lines. Yet it is very difficult to start cold, and remains harder to start than my other two even after warming up.

The injectors I bought were from Pensecola diesel and I have since heard they have a very bad rep for rebuilts. Before I replaced the injectors I had hard starting and some white smoke that would clear up right away. After new injectors, still as hard or harder to start, and the white smoke lasts much longer. Power seems to be about the same as before. The truck is an 89 with an ATS turbo. I know it is very difficult to diagnose without being next to the truck, but if you or anyone else has some experience with this sort of problem I would appreciate some help.

What I want to do is get this truck right so I can start upgrading. I am hoping to go to one of your high volume pumps, a cam, an intercooler and exhaust and get my boost up to 16 or 18 lbs and the power to the 325 to 350 range. Let me know what you think. Thanks Van

I would say definately fuel system. Did you do the IP when you did injectors? For the cost i would always go with new matched injectors. Sounds like you could have a timing issue for starters, but that may just be a symptom of an IP that has outlived its service life.

I've heard the same thing about Pensacola, as far as having bad parts. But then again I've been running a set if their injectors for about six years now, with no problems. If I was to guess , going from all you've said here , I would say your IP is on its way out. I know I've had problems starting mine for about two years now , and that's my issue. My IP is bad, the weep hole on the bottom is pouring diesel , and causing leak back. I've got a gtp38 turbo from a '95 PS I'm looking to put on mine. After I figure everything out . But I'll definitely have to replace the IP , looking at a DB2...but anyway greeting back to you ..that's where I'd start ...the IP .

One more thing .....if your wanting to spool that turbo. Go with one of racin's IP's. They'll push the fuel. Only reason I'm probably gonna go with a stock turbo IP is the price , and all I'm wanting is between 10-14 lbs of boost. I'm hoping I'll get that with a DB2 .

I had thought of the IP, but once started the truck runs very well, tows great and will get up to 10lbs boost. Do you think it would run that well with a bad IP? Also the IP looks like it has been changed at some point and the truck only has 174K and only 150 when I bought it? Van

My motor came out of a '89 thru '90 FSuperduty. Unknown miles ..the older trucks roll over after 100,000. Judging by the wax on the adjustment screws its an aftermarket though. The pump leaks like a screen door, but the motor is stout as hell. You'd never think the IP was bad until you look underneath , and see the fuel leaking, or go to start her after she sit overnight.

While I appreciate every ones help, the reason this is on this post, is i was responding to R&D who missed my PM. I too would like to hear how his problem with his build is going, as well as his answer to my question. Thanks

Vanet, yeah I saw that. His PM box is full. I was ordering a new pump (which is excellent so far! by the way) from him so I had the same issue. I was just reminding you to start a new thread if it becomes a big discussion, Ya know?

They are checking it out right now.... Things are looking better than not, but ill reserve an opinion until they are done and the issue is settled. That is the only im waiting on as far as the build goes... as soon as the BEP issue is solved, the S363 will be in the mail...
