Power Brakes for 1960 Ford

I am new to the forum. I have a 1960 Ford F-100 with a 390 and C6 in it. I am interested in putting power brakes or at a minimum putting a dual master cylinder on it. Anyone have suggestion for swapping from a later model truck or buying a kit from manufacter? Thanks.

On mine I used a hydra-vac booster off a '59 f600. Works great and stops on a dime. I've been told that a booster/mastercylinder from a mid 70's Ford truck bolts right in but I've never actually compared them in person.

Mine came off a 73 F100. Pictures in my gallery, but I have as much in it as the one buzzard posted, that looks like the way to go.

Excellent placement on the Hydra-Vac booster, not stock mounting point of course, but at least it's not in the way like the other up-grades that I've seen.

It's more than likely Mexican! Paypal accounts make it easy to pull the trigger!

I bought a dual resevoir master cylinder for my 58F100 from Engineered Components 860-872-7046 and it works fine. As I recall its a late model Lincoln dual resevoir master cylinder and a seperate adapter(conversion) that allows one to bolt it to your firewall etc and use all your existing pedals etc.
Its a manual not power master cylinder etc. But I believe they offer power too.

Don't know if they still offer it, but it works fine for me. My only thought is that I think if I were doing it again--today etc-I'd go with power discs. I think the four wheels drums--for me--and high speed driving are not quite as good as I'd like and I might make an improvement some day.

They work as expected its just that my 58 goes pretty fast--some times-and it takes more time to slow it down that I really like.

My 48F1 with factory drums and a much smaller motor stops really good--but its lighter and not so fast. The faster/heavier truck needs more stopping power.

By the way, I like Ibuzzard's suggestion too. Just trying to add more options that's all.

I have this same kit, though have not installed it yet. The parts look nice, and the price was really right.
