Hey I am new here and this is my first post. I recently purchased a 1996 Ford f 450 7.3 diesel, 5 spee. It is a ex pse&g with an under deck air compressor that runs of a pto. its making a very loud chattering noise at idle (i have a duel mass fly wheel) so I plan on replacing the flywheel. My question is can I convert to a single flywheel or do I have to keep the dual mass with the pto? Thanks in advance.

 

You could if you can find one however the DMF is designed to protect the transmission, that diesel pound the **** out of it with a basic flywheel in its place.
