Swiss Cheese frame

Does anyone know why there are so any extra holes in the frame?

I know it may be for stuff my truck doesn't have or they may use the same frame in different vehicles but wow! I can't imagine what would go where some of the holes are. some are probably for alignment on the jigs when they were built.

Some holes were for different equipment options and several holes front and back were for transportation tie downs.

There were the "swiss cheese" frames 80-81.5 but i'm not sure if Ford had started it in the 70's or not. For the later frames, it was for fuel ecomomy.

3x... jigs, tie-downs, lifting points during production, equipment variants(fuel tanks, emissions), pulling points (for when the get wrecked), pass-throughs for tubing, holes clips and ties.

If ya really wanna see Swiss-cheese, google "swiss cheese pontiac".
