I've f-ing had it with this thing! Can't seem to get it running correctly. The thing is an 89 f150 lariat 5.0efi. My original motor over heated bad. So I found another 302 on craigslist. He said it was a 91 efi motor but turns out it is out of a 79 fairlane. Of course I didn't think of checking it until I couldn't seem to get it to run. I'm thinking that it's got a different size cam in it and my computor doesn't like it. It will fire up and idle for a bit but then it starts sputtering and stalls out. Then it won't fire back up. I know your supposed to warm up the motor before I hook up the scanner to it, but I can't keep it running that long. Do I need to get rid of the computor and go with a conversion kit to carb????? f-ING Sensor BS! I wish they still made em like they use ta.

 

That would be a '79 Fair mount, not a Fairlane. Sure it's a 302 and not a 255? Did the heads look funny--open manifold and valley cover?

So you just installed your intake on this motor? What about the heads?

Do you have fuel? Spark? Basic stuff. Fuel filter and lines checked?

 

Stock cam shouldn't cause that kind of problem. Sounds more like possible fuel issue.

Check fuel pressure at the schrader valve. After it stalls, try valve and see if you get any fuel out of it.
