water seperator plug rotting away

I need help soon ! I drained my water seperator while changing the fuel filters yesterday. (a sunday evening) Well the drain plug is rusted almost completely away, I had no choice except to put it back in. but when i got it almost tight it stripped and just spun.. well I unscrewed it, and looking inside the hole where the plug srcews in it seems like there is only one thread in the pump assembly for the plug to catch on. is that right ? is the cover plate of the pump replaceable? I think I remember something about a brass replacement plug but searching didnt find it. Anyone have any help for me? I did manage to get it screwed back in and snug (no leaks) so it is back on the road. but I want to fix it, with my luck I will get bad fuel out of town and have to drain it on the side of the road

There are probably a bunch of places you can order online.

Official Ford Parts Site | Buy Motorcraft & OEM Ford Parts Online | FordParts.com is probably the best if you want a guaranteed reliable fit... you can order by part number or look up by VIN etc. Or you can check the price and availability of the local dealer.

Water separated drain plug

got the new and improved plug(@$22.) from RiffRaff about a month ago.
I get the water in fuel signal about 15 seconds after every crankup. I check about twice a week. Total drain is about 6 or 8 ozs of fuel, very little water, if any. About a teaspoon of grit & trash. I think the signal is a false alarm but as long as I'm getting trash i'll keep on bleeding.
Any thoughts?

Lynnmcmahan,
Need to remove cover of HFCM unit and clean contacts on sensor. Gets corroded now and then. Haven't had to do it on mine. See very little water in mine. Drain it during oil changes. I'm sure someone will come along and give details on how to..
