Idles at 2,000 RPM at Start-up
New to this site, so I may have the wrong thread. My 2002 5.4 idles at 2,000 RPM at start-up. Replaced the TPS and now I am going to replace the TCV. However, I do not know where it is on the engine. I have a Chilton manual but it does not show it. Any suggestions would be welcomed

LxMan1, Someone told me to use only a Motorcraft filter on Fords. Would this make a difference in the lifter noise? and if so, Why is that? Do Ford filters have a different design? On the idleing issue, Someone suggested that I may have a vaccum leak or throttle problem. I have a OBDII and the yellow light was on. I am going to take the truck to a mechanic so they can run an emissions test. Prayerfully, this will fix the problem.

Motorcraft filters have the best anti-drainback valve in them. This keeps oil from draining back into the pan, which starves the engine of oil when first started.
Like I said, as for the fast idle at start-up, that is normal.
If you have a Autozone near by, they will scan the computer for free. You can do that, write down the codes and post them here. We can guide to in the right direction as far as what repairs may be needed. They Autozone guys, aren't the best at giving the proper repair info. For instance, they often recommend replacing an O2 sensor when an O2 code comes up, when actually, something else, like a vacuum leak, is actually causing the mixture to be out of range.
Might save you some money to do it this way forst, before going to a mechanic.

LxMan1, Thank you for the information on the oil filter! I have heard that before, but did not know if that was true, so thank you. I had an emissions test ran today(for free) and no leaks. He suggested cleaning the throttle body motor. So I will try that and let you know what happens. Also, I need to change the oil, so I will put a motorcraft. Thank you again, and I will let you know what happens
