Fuel Tank Lock Ring

95 f250 4x4 5.8

Replaced rear fuel pump, lock ring and gasket yeaterday.

Today started leaking, removed bed (again) and found lock ring loose.
I had tightened it with a hammer and a brass punch, not sure if the "high spots on the ring" were under the tabs (are they supposed to be?) and also are the tabs supposed to be driven down on top of the lock ring once the the ring is turnrned tight?

God Bless
John

I'm not sure what is going on with yours. It shoudln't be loose. Maybe you don't have the right O-ring. The tabs are not supposed to be turned down though. Did you put some grease on it to aid with installing it? I always do that.

You should be turning the lock ring as far as it will go. It has stops to keep it from just turning and turning.
