Did the high idle mod but...

I did the high idle mod on my 05. Didnt have the upfitters but used a lighted toggle switch instead. I mounted it just to the right of the adjustable peddle button by the steering column. I tied the power wire into the #3 fuse box slot (where according to the manual was #3 upfitter fuse) and hooked into the purple wire with green stripe. RPM's goto 1200 (the first mark on the tach past the 1 mark) or a little higher. My question or comment is that as soon as the switch is hit, it jumps straight to 1200 without really any hesitation. All the videos ive seen show the idle gradually moving up to 1200. Does mine sound normal or do I need to rewire? Also I saw on one video where they had the vehicle in some sort of diagnostic mode with the tach reading where the mileage was. Is that possible on the 05 as the vids I saw that done were on the 03. Thanks.

Sounds like your tied into the "Stationary Elevated Idle Control" option, it will keep the truck at 1200 rpm until you tap the brake pedal or kill the switch. The PCM thinks it's powering a pump at the PTO. From the tech folder...

TheDieselStop.Com - www.thedieselstop.com

And the tach reading on the odometer screen....

Its hooked up to the BCP according to the colored wire being purple with green stripe. I was just curious about the sudden climb in rpms as opposed to the gradual that I had seen on the videos. Thanks.

Mine is hooked to BCP and it does this also. I have always wondered why, maybe its because of a different PCM strategy than the ones in the videos. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it.

I think wht they are shoing in the videos is the PCM programmed cold idile increase. Mine does go up gradually, but only when its below a certain temperature. If I use the High Idle Mod and flip my upfitter it will go right up to 1100-1200 rpm. I also have it wared to the Charge Protect Wire.

You dont have anything to wory about it sounds normal, like I siad the PCM is programmed to automatically raise the RPM at low ambient temps. When its that cold out I wait until the PCM raiese the idle before I flip the switch.
