Some recent trip statistics what these trucks are designed for

So have been out of the net for a week or so but now getting caught up on things.

I just did a trip to Colorado and back in 6 days.

So this is what this motor was made for and it worked per the usual flawless self.

So trip out was loaded with a car so about 6500 lbs, a minor load but enough to create a good ride.

Coming back was with a trailer of about the same weight with furniture and stuff plus the bed of the truck stacked cab high and strapped down.

So right at 3450 miles RT.

total fuel used was 262 gallons

total engine hours for the trip was 54

MPG's with this lite load was 13.21

Regens were 150-200 apart for 6-10 miles.

My point is this is an excellant hwy motor and that is where it shines.

I love hearing things like this. Makes all the negatives not worry me so much. Glad you made it home safely.

Yeah, was a hard and kinda grueling, an average of 575 miles a day for 6 days if you think about it.

I agree that this is what these motors were built. 575 miles a day average is a pretty good stunt to pull regardless of who you are. You know, I am far more comfortable pulling something with these trucks than traveling empty. I guess that little bit of pull, in my mind, the truck is doing what its suppose to do and not just idle down the road at 70.....

Thanks for this

Gents,
Thanks for the post. I just got my '08 F-350 to pull our 26' toy hauler with 2 bikes inside; whole thing should weigh about 8700. This truck replaced my 07 Ram 1500 which would have been a bit light to pull the hauler. I already love the torque and the highway feel of the truck. I am looking forward to our first trip and this report is good news indeed. Even with a light trailer and an Edge programmer, the Ram was quite the gas hog. I'll post again after we get the (new) hauler and will try to report the same stats. Sure do appreciate "real world" reports rather than some canned stuff. Thanks again!

When I pull my 5er I get around 7-9 mpgs...but then that is 14K and a height of 13'6", 40 foot in length.

So I would expect you to come in around there somewhere.

I roll at 65 mph due to the ST tires.

I get the same mileage as Senix, although my new camper is a little heavier than his. I roll about 70 with LTs. My truck is a '10 4x4 DRW. Senix is right, these are pulling machines!

I made a 1900 mile trip in 5 days this summer, we called it a vacation...

From Colorado, over to Utah, into Idaho, Wyoming and back home to Colorado. Not exactly easy driving. Lots of mountain passes and out into the Utah desert on some old mining roads. The truck never skipped a beat and it was a pleasure to drive.

When I pull my boat at 6000lbs, I hardly know it's there.

not enough good threads so I had to chime in.

I pull a 30ft Airstream with my F250 nearly full time. North, south, east and west through mountains and the flat lands. The truck performs flawlessly. It is factory stock and dealer serviced and I am a pleased Ford truck owner.

I did a 2600 mile RT Austin to Chicago, in July, pulling a 6500lb enclosed car hauler with furniture up, and empty (2950lbs) back.

6 days. 08 F350 DRW, tow/haul, cruise at 70. outside temp 100 degrees.

just at 9 mpg.
