Greetings from Old England

Morning all, how the devil are we all? Just a quick hi, as I've finally secured my next project. It's a '56 F100.It is a project, but has had a lot of the hard work done already. Has a Mustang 2 front end, boxed chassis, stainless 4 link rear on coilovers to a 9". Cab is pretty rust free with just the usual rear corners needing a small amount of attention. The rear bed and tailgate have been made brand new, and the truck comes with a huge amount of new parts inc, ididit column,Dakota dash, mirrors, bumpers, badges, headlining, loom, exhaus ts etc etc. I'm sure I'm going to have a million questions for you knowledgable guys but I'll do my best to use the search first! I'm hoping to put a 460 into it, but my first challenge is to choose the correct gearbox for it. It's looking like the C6, but ideally I'd like a manual there that helps me get the gearing spot on for a bit of fun, yet nice and lazy for the motorway! I have been offered a Tremec T55 but I'm not convinced that it's man enough or if a bellhousing is available? Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum!

Is your truck RHD, or will you convert it?

Welcome from California...sounds like you hit the jackpot when you found your project.

There are a few folks on here with 390's in an F100, so the 460 might fit in. I'm pretty sure that the biggest battle will be to get the exhaust routed out around your steering & frame. I'd be tempted to get the T5 and find a small block for the project.

Thanks for the kind words and advice everyone. Nice to be aboard. This is my fist American toy, so looking forward to a change of direction.I've been looking for a 56 for about 2 years now. I just need to sell my Unimog to make some room now too! It needs to have a bit of power, having had a 400bhp Caterham previously that weighed 580 kg! Started on the welding at the weekend, but weather has stopped play for now. My 460 arrived from the US yesterday, and I collected a C6 to allow me to mock up mounts etc etc. Will post some photos at some point too.

Welcome me ole mate.
I'm cramming a 460 into a 51 F3 so I'm guessing it will fit in an F100.
I'm with a few of the others and prefer auto's but I know you can get a Tremec conversion but it ain't cheap.
Bob of the blighty variety.
