Not to hi jack this but it is along the same lines.

Numberdummy, Do you have a break down (picture like you did for the pedals) of the old style linkage?
I ask because I thought there were bushings on it too and would like to see where they were.
Or was it just the cross shaft (frame to motor) that had the bushings?
Thanks

You should be more specific when you make requests like this, his internal response is likely to growl ferociously and ask:

"HOW old??? I can go back to the 1920s! Daphuque you talkin' 'bout, boy?!"

It is only recently (with the hvac ball and such) that I picked up that you have a pre-hydraulic-clutch truck, 1980-82, I forget exactly... but being specific in the text of your posts is really appreciated as not everybody displays/reads signatures.

Anyhow, here ya go fer pictures... the 2471 bushings are listed here, too, but I'd need to check the Text section to see if the actual full part numbers are the same:

Chris, you are right I should have said years but we are in the Bullnose area so that is years 80-86. Of the years how many had linkage?
Oh and my sig of the years like you found.

I want to thank you for posting up the pictures as it does show 2 bushings (7526) on the rod from pedal to cross bar.
It also looks like 2 bushings (358980-s) at the cross bar & linkage adjuster.
Any way to know the OD & ID size of the bushings and what they were made of as I don't have anything on either truck to go by.

Thanks again.

'80, '81, '82 had a mechanical clutch.
Hydraulic from '83->.

Dimensions are not listed in any of the factory literature.

Your best bet is to ask Gary Lewis, as he did quite a bit of work "remanufacturing" his Z bar and pivots before finally deciding to go with the hydraulic clutch intended for the ZF-5 he is using.

Hmm, my wife's '83 F150 300 had a mechanical setup. IIRC, the Graveyard has the brackets with the bushings included. Awful design anyway, esp. with the I-6. Look at Chris's pic; the stoopid bushing (7A535) threads right into the block. Wife's broke off; NO WAY I was gonna be able to drill it out with the engine in-frame. So I bought the bracket/bushing for the 302 (7A572) and bolted it up, and it located the bushing right where it would have been anyway.

But +1 ^^^^^; hydraulic is the way to go.

Edit - if the bushing question is about the pedal box bushings, that's a kit, should still be stocked at the dealer.

The bushings I would be after would be the 2 bushings (7526) on the rod from pedal to cross bar. One is at the top and the other at the bottom.

The other 2 bushings (358980-s) are at the cross bar & linkage adjuster. It is on the adjuster on the big end.

I may need the cross bar bushings, etc. also but will not know till I get to this part of the build but figured if someone knew sizes I could keep an eye open for them and repair the rod & holes back to round.

Thanks guys

Only 1983 F250/350 6.9L & 7.5L have a hydraulic clutch, everything else got it in 1984.

These are "wavy" steel washers, designed to put pressure on either side of the clutch adjustment rod.
2) D8TZ-7526-B .. 7/16" I.D. Nylon Bushing-Clutch Pedal to Idler Lever Rod (cross bar = Clutch Equalizer aka "Z" Bar) / Reproduced by Carpenter.

This is not a bushing, it's the inner clutch pivot (EOTZ-7A535-A) for the clutch equalizer bar.

The (2) equalizer bar bushings are: C1AA-7543-A available from Ford.

Chris: Parts catalog pic errs saying 1980/82, cuz 1983 (except F250/350 6.9L & 7.5L) also has a mechanical clutch.

See post 22.

Thank you Bill (ND) that helps a lot.
The wavy washer deal I will have to check on as 1 truck I pulled apart had a big ring on the end of the adjuster and it flopped around on the bar.

Nylon bushings! no wonder why they are no longer in place and the rod & holes oblong! Think I will look into brass ones at the hardware store to replace them and keep them lubed.
Thanks again

Thank you, Bill, this is one of those details I tend to forget, just like the 460 fuel pump stuff.

Sorry for giving bad info.

I guess sometimes I don't think of anyone but myself.

It's one redeeming feature is that it does no damage to the firewall.......unlike the original hydraulic set up. But I agree, it is more 1920's than 1980's.

Thanks to all for sorting this out and especially to NumberDummy for the illustration (& correct part #) which puts it all into perspective.

I'm really looking forward to swapping out those bushings and ridding my 96' F-150 of that most irritating noise every time my clutch pedal is depressed/released...

Cheers D
