Maybe the plastic bushings in the pedal support are worn through?

WD-40 is not a good lubricant, in my opinion. It's meant to displace water and that's about it.

You need to find a good multi-purpose lubricant for the clutch linkage.

The owners manual states to use Ford #: C1AZ-19590-B and is a very good lubricant. The ford dealer should find you something simular to it if it's no longer avaliable.

I've also found a good multi-purpose lubricant that is close to the old Ford multi-purpose lubricant. "Max Professional: Super Lubricant"

Either one of these lubricants are good for clutch linkage and will stop squeaks associated with the clutch linkage.

Now if your squeaks are internal of the transmission, then you might have a begining of a more severe problem. Throw out bearing, worn clutch disc, etc...

Try lubricating the clutch pedal return spring, if you have not already. It is up high and to the left of the pedal (when facing it).

That's it. That is exactly what I use. It lasts a long time as well.

I have this same problem in my truck. I've been trying WD-40, and it works for a while. Sometimes the squeak will come back, or sometimes it is more of a... 'crunch' almost. I've tried spraying the return spring, the shaft that goes down the floor, and the linkage between the two. Right now the squeak is gone entirely, but I feel in a few weeks it will return.

If you have mechanical linkage, you need to spray the pivot points on the outside under the hood as well where the pivot hooks to the bellhousing or engine.

My clutch linkange has been doing the same thing for a while now. I checked to make sure nothing was broken and left it alone. I can't really hear it over the radio anyways.

ArdWrknTrk probably has it right in his post above. The horizontal "pivot rod" (I don't know the actual name) that connects the clutch pedal to the belcrank arm which connects to the hyraulic master cylinder pushrod has plastic bushings on both ends. I think they are actually light green in color, you can see them peeking out at either end of the rod. These plastic bushings probably can wear out eventually and the result could be metal-to-metal contact on moving parts. That could cause a squeak. But I'm just speculating, I don't actually know. Maybe direct a squirt of proper lubricant at these bushings and see if that helps.

Oh, they definitely can wear out. Lol!

I call it the cross shaft, but have no idea what it's real name may be.
AFAIK, these pedal supports are NLA from Ford, but the bushings are available.

Don't let it go too far...

I had this problem and finally solved it.

There are TWO major moving clutch parts under the dash. The spring attached to the main clutch pedal might be squeaky, but there is also a linkage that goes up into the dash, comes down on the RIGHT side of the gas pedal, and goes through the firewall into the engine compartment.

I oiled the visible part of the right side linkage and the squeak is gone.

M/T: There are 4 nylon bushings (2471), two on the clutch pedal rod, two on the brake pedal.

When they wear, it sounds like a mouse is trapped under the dash.
