I really wanted a high top but needed a roof rack to carry my canoes (45lbs and 80lbs) and its hard enough to get them on a cab high not to mention anything higher!
The wedge shape are ugly as hell but the 2-3" "step" look good. Especially the ones with a small wide window in the step up facing forward.

Most SuperDuties will barely fit in a parking garage or any garage for that matter if you ever have to park in a garage take that into consideration.
What year, engine, cab?
Most of these trucks you will not see a determinable difference in MPG with a higher than cab topper.
When you really need it those couple inches really are nice.
What do you plan on doing with it or hauling in it do you really need more headspace?

The truck is mostly used for recreation and in the future towing either a toybox or travel trailer, so I'm not worried about the parking garage issue, but I do know that it is a concern for some people. Truck is a Diesel Crew cab with standard box. I was looking for the extra "headroom", I'm 6'5", I'd like to be able to sit up comfortably, I haven't gotten the dimensions of the cab high so I don't know if I am really going to need the 2-4" step up.
I agree that I am not liking the look of the wedge caps but the step up caps look pretty good
