Alternative to ruining your PCM with an EDGE programmer

Unfortunately, Jody is the only one who can flash these, its a different chip.
Jody's chips give him a few more options on tuning with chips, specially his more advanced chip.
Thats one of the reasons other people cannot flash them. He's spent big bucks trying to tune further than the other guys.
This being said does not mean the other tunes are bad tuners.

So, with the F8, you can change tuners if you want, but the next tuner cannot steal the previous tuners work.
I like that.

The super chips were kinda the way to go for a while, but its a plug in like a TS chip, but the tunes on them are just no where near what you can get from the other custom tuners.
I've seen posts about high EGT's with them as well.
Some people here have ran them with good results, but the chip doesn't hold a candle to a good tuner.
The best way to explain a TS/F8 style chip to any other chip is that any out of the box store shelf style solution is just a catch all thrown together style setup.
The custom tunes have been improved upon and improved upon thus giving you the best results, while these other programmers or chips are, and I'm speculating here, most likely tunes from a few years ago that somebody threw together.
Like I said, they are a catch all style tune and not necessarily the best they could be for what we are driving.
Custom tunes can be dialed in directly for the results you want from your tuner, shift points, gearing, stickshift/auto and all these different sort of things as well as fuel economy and power.
Any steel worker or blacksmith generally ends up making a lot of their own tools after a while. Why? Because they are making tools to fit the job that out of the box tools cannot do. Same goes for chips, out of the box chips/programmers will work, but they are not necessarily the best tool for the job.
I hope I didn't muck that all up and make it sound bad.

This thread say it all for me ...

There is some speculation that problems with the "EDGE" is only on Cali trucks, but don't know for sure.
