What makes a vehicle "Flex Fuel" ?
I have a 2000 Ranger that is one. Is it the two extra cats in the Y pipe?
I have a broken weld where the Y pipe meets the cat flange, and was wondering if I could replace it with a different Y pipe for NY standards.
44 looks and no feed back? I could understand if this was a Hyundai and you guys didn't speak Korean, but............. It's a Ford truck! Think I should move this to the Cali thread?
Frank, you have to go through the sniffer down there. And technically, what came on the truck has to stay on the truck - no deviation from OEM. That was snuck on the books probably before you were born ( LOL) but,not really enforced. The OBD 2 would probably pick up the missing cats. Is there an O2 sensor there? If so I think your stuck with it. If not, you could take a chance but, the sniffers might pick it up. Darned if you do, darned if you don't.
