How to remove EMC Plug

I cannot get a a socket on the EMC plug screw. Is there a trick to this

The plastic on the plug is covering up the side of the screw and I cannot even get a socket on it. Can I pull it thru the firewall and unscrew it that way? Or will I rip wires off?

Thanks

Bob

Humm that doesn't look good. I don't think taking it lose from the inside will help cause there's not much slack. Did you do that?

The plastic cap just came loose. Just push it back down into place on that side.

it is a 10MM bolt head
just get in there with a 1.4 ratchet
It will come out and then you can pull the whole plug out.
Make sure you now the orientation of he ecm in the driver's side kick panel, one side has to go back towards fender, the ecm has a X on one side. Also make sure the gasket is situated correctly

Like Ian said, just push the plastic back and push the socket onto the bolt head.

Where at exactly? Is the code facing the footbox or facing out? I am having a hell of a time just finding this code.

Its on a sticker on the plug that covers where you need to install the chip. You will have to remove the PCM anyway to clean the J3 port at some point.

Remove the cover by the E brake and you will see it...

3 letters and a number... for instance mine is PMT2... or it was.
